Astronaut Eugene A. Cernan




Through the Pacific dawn, Apollo 10 settled down three miles from the carrier "Princeton." The recovery team had been drilling for weeks. They scooped the astronauts into a hovering helicopter by means of a Billy Pugh lift and deposited them on the red carpet stretched across the "Princeton's" deck — all within 39 minutes of splashdown.
